Il Gattopardo Art Residence is an italian villa situated in the hills of Cairo Montenotte, a small town between the Langhe and the Ligurian Riviera.

Artists Residency 2026 –

Call for applications

The residency hosts artists from all creative fields:
visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography, etc.), performing arts (theater, dance, circus, performance art, music, etc.), writing, film and audiovisual arts, design, illustration, architecture and landscape architecture, fashion, and applied arts.

The theme of this year will focus on the dialogue and connection with the local culture and natural environment, while it is possible to get in touch with local artisanal realities to develop a personal artistic project.

At the end of the residency there will be a collective exhibition of two days showing the work made during your stay.

How can I reach Il Gattopardo?

By car: the address is Strada Valgarone 23-25, Cairo Montenotte (SV), Liguria, Italia.
By plane: closest airports are in Genoa and Turin. From there you take a train to Savona or San Giuseppe di Cairo.
By train: closest train stations are in Savona or San Giuseppe di Cairo.
Upon request, we can pick you upfrom the local train stations.

Do I need a car?

There is no public transportation from the residency to the closest town Cairo Montenotte (4 km). Therefore, a car makes it more convenient. Perhaps you can share a ride with one of the other residents.

Do I need to stay the entire time?

We ask you to stay at the residency most of the time but obviously you can take a few days off if required. If necessary, you start a little earlier and leave a few days before the end of the residency period.

What kind of working tools are in the residency?

There is an outdoor space (covered) with some tools for wood working and studios and rooms inside the villa you can use as work spaces. There are also some easels and a printer at your disposal.

Can friends or relatives come to visit?

Friends and relatives are welcome to visit for a few days but not for a longer period of time.

Which costs are included in the residency?

Stay and current working tools are included, while travel, food and materials expenses are not included.
